Analyzing disk space usage with Disk Space Inspector - by Marsh Jeffrey

Disk space usage analysis, if performed properly, can save you lots of money. Consider this: brand-new hard disk costs about 100 dollars, in about one to two years most of us purchase new hard disks, backup costs vary from $20 a year to $250 a year per machine, depending on data copying frequency. Now multiply these numbers on total number of computers in your office or at your home. Impressed? Read on.

Many larger companies have already realized the vast potential of disk space usage analysis. About 12 to 30 per cent of all files on our hard drives are obsolete files – they contain either outdated information or supplementary data for applications running. These files occupy valuable disk space and increase backup costs. Despite the fact, that we realize how great it would be to eliminate such files – finding information junk within important files may be quite a challenging task without the proper tool.

Thorough disk space usage analysis may reveal thousands of obsolete files as well as guide you towards the most effective disk cleanup procedures. If you use the right tool for disk space analysis, you are obviously saving money each day. Run quick analysis and see which files and folders take most space, whose files exceed quotas and fix it all right from the application! You think we are talking wonders? No way!

Disk Space Inspector by AdvexSoft, the application I have come across about a year ago, does it all and it does its job well! Today, I use Disk Space Inspector on three machines back at the office and on two home computers. What is actually great about this program is that regardless of your level of computer skill you can start using it right away and see how much junk data you have on your HDD.

What I typically do with Disk Space Inspector, is let it scan all of the hard drives installed on the computer and then present me an interactive report on disk space usage. When I see some huge data occupant such as Program Files folder, I would usually click it and go investigate further. To my surprise, I always find a couple of folders with no significant information in them taking much space.

At the office, I usually compare disk space usage charts produced by Disk Space Inspector in order to see what changes to local and network disks were made this week. This approach lets me pinpoint those pesky files we all do create from time to time as an intermediary data storage facility. This way it is real easy to split the beans!

Disk Space Inspector brings sense to where only havoc previously existed. The program supports various types of local and network drives and file systems, ensuring scrupulous data analysis on any hardware.

Do you clean up at your home? I do. We all do it occasionally. Why? Because, otherwise we would sink in waste and leftovers, right? So, why wouldn't we do the same thing on our PCs? It is always nice to see you house or apartment shining. The same is true for well-kept computer systems. If you are serious about information storage and if you prefer keeping only important data on your HDD, you should definitely install Disk Space Inspector! Pretty soon you will get used to it as you already have to your toothbrush!
